Description
The Picasso Clog features a Safety Certified Steel Toe (ASTM F2412-05). Troentorp clogs have been handcrafted in the Bastad region of Sweden since our start in 1907. Our clogs feature an orthopedically constructed foot bed that supports even weight distribution with a soft step, helping reduce lower back strain and leg and foot discomfort. Shaped to exact measurements, the cowhide leather uppers are wet-lasted and use hand-hammered stainless steel nails to attach to the moisture-resistant alder wood foot bed, which has a raised heel and an anatomically correct scaphoid metatarsal arch and toe well. Each clog features a 1" heat-bonded polyurethane sole and certified non-skid (ASTM 1677-Mark II) tread. Also featuring: Sustainably Made, Slip-Resistant (Non-Skid Certified ASTM 1677-Mark II), Steel Toe (Safety Certified Toe ASTM F2412-05)

These are great shoes, and I love them. But approach them with caution, for they are a cruel mistress.Firstly the good; they look -amazing- in Black Cherry, and presumably other colors, I get compliments on them constantly. They are also built extremely well, and have barely any signs of wear after two months of 70+ hour work weeks. After getting used to them, they are very comfortable, my back feels great, and I have zero foot pain. Even my bum knees don't hurt as much after wearing these shoes on the job for a little over two months. The toe box is very roomy, even with the steel toe reinforcement, and my rather wide feet. The wooden soles are contoured so well that you barely notice they aren't padded, except maybe in the toe area. The non-slip out-soles grip extremely well on wet and greasy kitchen tile and walk-in floors, so I expect they'll do well on just about any surface. The craftsmanship is incredible, the shoes are clearly built extremely well, and feel like they're going to last for a very long time, which is a big part of the reason I chose these over the now made in China Danskos. Now the less than awesome; they do take some serious getting used to, especially if you're not used to wearing a true clog style shoe, which I was not. Seriously, take your time letting your feet adjust to them, I "broke them in" (more like my feet rather than the shoes) probably way too aggressively, and so experienced some discomfort through that process. A couple of stitches holding the front and back portions of the leather upper also popped out on the left shoe, but this in no way affects the integrity or function of the shoe. I wear a 45 in most European styles including all the other clogs I tried on, so I ordered these in the same, but after wearing them in they seem to be running just a bit large, which results in some rubbing especially on the outsides of the toes. So ordering a size down from normal just might be a good idea.Overall these are great looking, well made shoes and they perform extremely well. But exercise caution and patience while breaking them in if you intend to be on your feet in them for long periods of time.
